Grab the popcorn and a cool beverage. Shark Week (#SharkWeek) is upon us once again. Truth be told – I look forward to it. Shark Week is an annual, week-long TV programming sensation created by Tom Golden at the Discovery Channel which features shark-based specials. It originally premiered on July 17, 1988 and since has grown to become enormously popular around the world. Since 2010, Shark Week has been the longest-running cable television programming event in history.
